Sri Lanka wins the 2nd Test and the Series

Sri Lanka won the 2nd test against Bangladesh played at the R.Premadasa stadium in Colombo by 7 wickets. Accordingly Sri Lanka won the test series by one to nil.
The first test match played at Galle ended in a draw. With yesterday’s victory the new Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews has become successful in winning the very first test series played under his captaincy.
The key player in yesterday’s victory was Rangana Herath who took 12 wickets in the test, five wickets in the first innings and 7 wickets in the second innings..
Bangladesh scored 240 runs in the 1st innings and in response to that the Sri Lankan teamscored 346 in the 1st innings. Bangladesh in their 2nd innings made 265 runs which left Sri Lanka a target of scoring 160 in the 2nd innings and Sri Lanka reached this target with 7 wickets in hand. T.M.Dilshan scored 57 runs and Kumara Sangakkara scored 55 runs.
Accordingly Sri Lanka won the second test by 7 wickets and the series by one to Nil.
Rangana Herath who made brilliant bowling attack was adjudged as the man of the match while Sangakkara who scored three centuries and one half century in the series was adjudged as the man of the series. (niz)
