Kukuleganga Hydro Power Plant Restored

Out of the two turbines in the
Kukuleganga Hydro Power Plant, which were out of order due to a
technical fault, one turbine has now been restored.
Toshiba Company of Japan, which is the
parent company of these turbines, has repaired the turbine and it has
been activated since Friday (05) evening.
The Kukuleganga Hydropower Plant through
the two turbines adds 75 Megawatts daily to the National Grid and with
the restoration of this turbine, it will again add 37.5 Megawatts to the
National Grid.
The Minister of Power and Energy,
Ms.Pavithra Wanniarachchi, has instructed the relevant officials to
expedite restoration of the other turbine which is being repaired under
the supervision of its parent company and CEB engineers.
Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi during
her recent visit to the Kukulegama Hydro Power Plant has instructed the
CEB officials to take necessary short term and long-term measures to
restore the turbines immediately with the assistance of the Toshiba
Company. As a result, one turbine has been restored and used for power
generation within a short period of two weeks.
