Police hunt Matara thugs

A special police team of investigators sent to Matara police has launched a manhunt for more suspects in connection with last Saturday’s thuggery launched by the supporters of Parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera against the peaceful marchers of Southern Provincial councilor Mr. Maithree Gunaratne.
The police have identified the suspects from the video footage of the attack in the Matara Town. Most of the suspects are reported to have already fled Matara and five separate police teams are on their trail.
Twenty four suspects have already been arrested over the incident and remanded till Oct. 14. (niz)
